Aoga Amata Preschool

At Aoga Amata Preschool, our curriculum is natural, play-based and culturally responsive, grounded in the principles of Te Whāriki and fa’a Samoa. We value learning that is meaningful, hands-on and guided by the tamariki interests, supporting tamariki to grow in confidence, curiosity and capability.

We are fortunate to have a large, natural outdoor environment that encourages exploration and connection with the natural world. This includes our own vegetable garden, which tamariki help to plant, tend and harvest, learning about sustainability, responsibility and care. We also have chickens and our much-loved pet guinea pig, Sylvie, providing tamariki with regular opportunities to practice tautua (service), fa’aaloalo (respect) and empathy through caring for living things.

Regular excursions are an important part of our programme. Each week during term time, tamariki have opportunities to participate in Bush Kindy, swimming, and the Launchpad School Programme at Fernworth Primary School, as well as spontaneous excursions when opportunities arise. We believe in supporting tamariki to engage with and learn from their wider community, strengthening their sense of belonging and understanding of the world around them.
